VIVO 2019 Held in Montenegro

The Tenth Annual VIVO Conference was held from Wednesday September 4 to Friday September 6 in Podgorica, Montenegro. The VIVO 2019 Conference Task Force would like to thank sponsors, speakers, presenters, attendees, the Grand Travel Agency staff members, and the amazing staff at the Hilton Hotel Podgorica. The 2019 VIVO Conference web site includes all the information about the conference and the program. The session abstracts are posted on the Program Schedule and the Speakers’ pages. Thanks to our Program Chair, Ruben Verborgh, for challenging us to consider Open Review platform and for making sure the program included outstanding talks. Thank you to our keynote speaker Herbert Van de Sompel and to our two invited speakers, Anastasia Dimou and Sarven Capadisli.

Every year our sponsors make sure the conference happens and this year was no different. We would like to thank Digital Science for their generous Platinum sponsorship. Things to do in Podgorica

Podgorica is the capital of Montenegro with a population of about 150,000 positioned in the middle of the country, in a picturesque area with 2 rivers. In addition, in 2017 Montenegro has been chosen by Vogue magazine as one of the most tempting destinations to travel, because of its natural beauty and more affordable prices compared to its neighbors Italy and Croatia.

The conference center in Podgorica is located close to cultural monuments such as: Ribnica fortres, Old city and Clock tower, King Nikola’s winter residence and Kings park.

City of Cetinje, the Old Royal Capital of Montenegro, is a beautiful historic town, just a 30 minute drive from the center of Podgorica. In Cetinje, the visitors can see the Blue Castle — the official home of today’s president of Montenegro. Cetinje is home to many impressive historic buildings that housed embassies during the 19th century, and the monastery that allegedly keeps the right hand of John the Baptist and a piece of the Holy Cross.
Ostrog Monastery built into the cliff of a mountain located about 1 hour from Podgorica by car.

The Call for Posters and Demos is open until July 16th - submit your poster or demo abstract. The poster/demo session lets you share your work in an informal, relaxed setting and chat with individual community members. Attendees will view and discuss your work during the poster/demo reception. Call for Poster and Demo Proposals, Second Early Bird Registration

If you missed the earlier deadline, you have until July 16 to submit your poster or demo abstract. The poster/demo session lets you share your work in an informal, relaxed setting and chat with individual community members. Attendees will view and discuss your work during the poster/demo reception. Demos will be held during the poster session. The person presenting the demo should provide the equipment (a fully charged laptop).

Submissions should explore or illustrate innovative VIVO implementations, integration with other systems, or methods of tracking and displaying scholarly impact. We encourage submissions that demonstrate the use of semantic technologies to represent scholars and their work, as well as those that illustrate teams and communities collaborating across disciplines. Share your posters and demos with the VIVO community before July 16, 2019.

OpenReview and Early Bird Registration

Have you registered for VIVO Conference 2019 yet? The Early Bird Rate is ending on May 27 at midnight GMT, so don’t wait to register.

The Local Organizing Committee has selected the Hilton Hotel as our conference venue which can accommodate 150 attendees in its conference rooms. You can also stay at the Hilton hotel where rates should be around 125 Euros per night. Alternatively, on-line sources such as booking.com and similar web-sites offer affordable luxury residential apartment accommodation located a short distance (3-5 blocks) from the conference center.

We invite all of you to leave feedback on the proposals for VIVO2019. All proposals are freely available on OpenReview, and your feedback will make the conference even better! You can comment under your own name, or anonymously.

Authors, reviewers, and members of the public can post public comments using the “Comment” button on any VIVO 2019 proposal.
For proposals assigned to you for review, visible in your tasks page, you must post your review using the “Official Review” button.
Reviews are visible to everyone (program chairs, other reviewers, authors, other users) immediately upon creation.
Any logged in user can also post their reviews using “Comment” button and can do it anonymously or using their public ID.
Important: while posting anonymous reviews through comments, you must not reveal your identity in any part of the discussion.
Reviewer consoles are accessible if you have been assigned proposals for review.
Program chairs can monitor review progress using the Program Chair console.

Final Decision Stage

Program chairs have the opportunity to refine meta reviews before release.
Final decisions are communicated to authors.

Do you help make scholarly data open, found, and consumed? Do you have fresh ideas or new work you want to share with us? We’d love to hear from you! The VIVO conference covers a broad range of topics surrounding research information systems. With VIVO 2019, we are widening the scope of talks to target a broader audience of people working in this space.

This year’s conference is hosted by The School of Medicine at University of Montenegro, Clinical Center of Montenegro and Institute of Public Health of Montenegro. Invited Speakers

Invited Speakers: Anastasia Dimou and Sarven Capadisli

VIVO 2019 Conference Planning Task Force is excited to announce that our two invited speakers are Anastasia Dimou and Sarven Capadisli.

Dr. Anastasia Dimou is a senior/post-doctoral researcher at imec and IDLab, Ghent University. Anastasia joined the IDLab research group in February 2013. Her research interests include Linked Data Generation and Publication, Data Quality and Integration, Knowledge Representation and Management. As part of her research, she investigated a uniform language to describe rules for generating high quality Linked Data from multiple heterogeneous data sources. Anastasia currently conducts research on automated Linked Data generation and publication workflows, data validation and quality assessment, query-answering and knowledge integration from Big stream data. Her research activities are applied in different domains, such as Internet of Things (IoT), manufacturing, media and advertisement and led to the development of the RML tool chain. She is involved in different national, bilaterals, and EU projects, authored several peer-reviewed publications presented at prominent conferences and journals such as ESWC, ISWC, JWS and SWJ, participated in several PCs and co-organized tutorials and workshops.

Sarven Capadisli is currently writing his PhD thesis with University of Bonn, and researches with TIB, Hannover. His research involves the Linked Research initiative and dokieli (a clientside editor for decentralised article publishing, annotations and social interactions).
